I was talking with a few friends through an instant-messenger, laughing. I decided to check MoHFiles, to see what had happened in the few hours I'd not checked. I see this, and the smile disappeared from my face, and I felt like putting my hat over my heart. This one really got me.
I give it a 10-10, although I don't think "This Rocks!" is the best way to describe my reasoning. Good job, Franklin.

anyone who does not vote a 10 deservers to be deported back to where ever!
Those of us who have survived a war are honored by those fallen, our brothers, friends, and sometimes family!

thanks Franklin

With all due respect, but that's just bullsh*t.. Why should we vote 10 every time someone sends a pic with the graves of fallen men during the war.. Yes it's sad, but we've seen so many of these pics...
Anyway it's a nice angle so I'll give it an 8

This quote appeared, attributed to Plato, at the beginning of Ridley Scott's 2001 movie "Black Hawk Down".

General Douglas MacArthur's used this line in his farewell address to the cadets at West Point (May, 1962).

Mr. Bernard Duffy, of California Polytechnic State University, coeditor of a book of MacArthur's speeches, had told him that the quote could be found on the web as a quote of George Santayana's, and further digging confirmed that it could be read in Santayana's "Soliloquies in England" (Scribners, 1924, p. 102), Soliloquy #25, "Tipperary", in a section which reads: "Yet the poor fellows think they are safe! They think that the war is over! Only the dead have seen the end of war."

It is als on the wall of the Imperial War Museum in London, attributed to Plato!

No written proof is available to validify if Plato wrote this line!

#15..Harsh..you must be jokin? American GI's have been putting their lives on the line for many, many years to a heck of alot of countries for a heck of a lot of other people! My Grandfather, my father, and myself each have served in the military most our adult lives and served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Sorry, but I will defend my military actions to the teeth and those that died before me!
If your not from America, then what country are you from....we can probably check the yearbook and find that somewhere in time the American GI...saved your country!

I edit my POTD score to 1000/10.

i gave it a 10/10 because i respect the dead. but there is no rule saying we HAVE to give this 10/10 !!! get bobzilla out of my face cause im outraged at what he said to me, and if he dares insults my country .... !! i have no problem against ye yanks so he better not say any racist comments!!!

p.s. saying "yanks" isnt racism before anybody tries to point it out. i dont mind anybody calling me a "paddy"

honor the dead or a picture ? isn't it great that the very soldiers you're screaming about are the ones who are currently fighting AGAINST the very acts you are commiting...namely extreme ideology . ie. if you don't believe exactly how i do, harm should come to you . you wish to honor them, honor them however you insult them when you totally shelve what they fought for...namely the freedom to have your own personal opinions & express them without fear of reprisal . i have yet to meet a soldier who broke down in tears because i stated that the picture taken at iwo jima could have been a little more in focus .

Exactly PKM, as for the pic I wish I could vote higher than a 10. I am thankful everyday for the men and women who have fought for our country. If anyone thinks they aren't thankful, they still are or else they couldn't think that.

Although i have never been in a real war of nations and countries, i believe this is a 10-10 pic because all those that died in the heart of battle that made a difference to the united states deserver more than just a rememberance. they deserve there respect in any way we know how to give it.
